Muse+Connect with Martha Lucy

Friday, May 21, 2021

5:30-6:30 pm EST

Martha Lucy, Ph.D. is Deputy Director for Research, Interpretation and Education at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia.  A specialist in 19th-century European art, Martha’s work has examined topics ranging from Darwinian themes in the Symbolist art of Odilon Redon to the sense of touch in Renoir’s late Impressionist paintings. She heads up research efforts at the Barnes, and oversees all of its educational endeavors: online classes, academic programs, pre-K-12 programs, docents, and archives. Check out Martha and her team discussing iconic works from the Barnes by Renoir, Van Gogh, Matisse, Picasso and others in their very popular Take Out series. What’s it like doing museum work in this digital age, navigating both the limitations and the new possibilities?
