Rosy Lamb
"In my studio, whether I’m painting or sculpting, I trace what I see around me until it begins to come alive. As an artist I’ve been doing this for years, but lately I’ve been interested in helping others to build and trust their powers of observation, too. This led me to invent CoColor, an educational program exploring the principle of color’s endless possibilities. It's based on a series of easy, fun and straightforward color mixing activities. On my Paris Muse tours, families enjoy playing these games together while also learning about modern art in one of my favorite museums in the city. The most rewarding part about leading these tours is seeing how anyone at any age— no matter how comfortable they are with art—can use their intuition to work with their eyes and hands."
My favorite place in Paris will always be my studio. My second favorite place is the Parc Montsouris, where I go for walks to watch the seasons change colors and sometimes make fairy houses with my daughter under the trees.
After studying painting and sculpture at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Rosy packed up her art supplies and moved to Paris. She has been living and working here ever since. During her first years in Paris she worked as a studio assistant for the French sculptor Jean Cardot, researching and sculpting studies for his monument to Thomas Jefferson at the Pont de Solferino, as well as the sculpture of Leonardo Da Vinci for the artist’s grave in Amboise, France. Rosy has had several solo exhibitions of her work in both Paris and the US. She is also the author and illustrator of the critically acclaimed picture book for children, Paul Meets Bernadette.
