Tour Description
Versailles for Kids was made for families who would rather focus on creating lasting memories than stress about the planning.
This private tour gets kids (ages 6-12) looking closely with fun interactive activities, developed for Paris Muse by a team of museum educators. Using their own set of special viewers, kids search for “hidden” details in paintings and sculptures, as a way to understand the bigger picture of Versailles’ amazing history. In galleries that could otherwise be overwhelming, this game-like approach gives kids a chance to take charge—under the attentive guidance of your kid-friendly private guide, of course!
In the Grand Apartments, your family will see the most iconic rooms of the château, also once known as The Apartments of the Planets. Our unique program uses this solar system theme, in fact, as an accessible way for kids to engage with Versailles’s function and design. The château and its gardens reflect the thinking of its era, when art, design, and science were thought to be more closely interrelated.
After visiting the majestic palace interior, it’s on to more adventures in the incredibly vast gardens, where your family’s tour concludes. While it’s fun to hear about royal figures like the “Sun King” Louis XIV or Queen Marie-Antoinette, it’s also important for kids to feel like “rulers” of their own joyful Versailles stories!
This tour includes a 3-hour visit to Versailles (both the château and the gardens) with 2 hours set aside for travel time back and forth from Paris, included in the price of the tour.
How to Reserve
A 200 euros non-refundable deposit, along with a request for 3 possible dates and preferred pick-up time, is required for Paris Muse to make a reservation request for you at Versailles. Subject to ticket availability. Please try make your request at least one full week (7 days) in advance of your first requested day.
Since Versailles tickets are nonrefundable, your deposit will only be refunded in the event that your choice of dates and time are not available.
You will be invoiced for the remaining balance of the tour when we send confirmation of your date and pick-up time. This balance is the only refundable portion of your tour. 100% refunds are issued only for cancellations 15 days before your tour. Our cancellation and refund policies are here.
At checkout, please provide your street address for pick up in Paris. Your guide will meet you there at your requested pick-up time on the day of your tour, and you will all travel to Versailles together.
Your guide will have your pre-purchased timed and dated tickets for you. Please be prepared to pass through security screening, however, which is required for all visitors, even at the priority entrance we use.
Accessibility
Please note that this is not an accessible tour. Strollers are not permitted inside Versailles. Our visit includes a significant amount of walking, on outdoor paths over uneven terrain. Please wear flat, comfortable shoes, and dress for the weather. Bring an umbrella just in case.
