Tour Description
This comprehensive tour is an introduction to the diversity and richness of the Louvre. Together, you and your art historian guide will explore the key highlights of the Louvre’s Ancient Near East, Greek and Roman, and Renaissance Italian collections. You’ll also learn about the fascinating architectural history of the Louvre’s pre-museum life as a royal palace. This is an ideal way to make what can normally be an overwhelming experience into a meaningful one. You’ll see the most celebrated of all the Louvre’s treasures—the Khorsabad Palace, the Venus de Milo, Nike of Samothrace, Leonardo’s Mona Lisa, Michelangelo’s Slaves—but your guide will also take the time to see other carefully selected works, vividly conveying their details and historical context. This is one our most popular tours, reserved by both first-time visitors and those looking to revisit the Louvre in a more memorable way.
Your guide will bring your timed and dated tickets, and together you’ll use a priority access line to enter the museum. There will be a wait for the required security screening, however.
Our cancellation and change policies are here.

Accessibility
Our guides are trained to lead wheelchair-accessible tours that use the Louvre’s many ramps and elevators.
We can assist you in borrowing a free wheelchair on site, with your ID. We recommend this to visitors with limited mobility, since navigating the Louvre can be physically demanding. Please specify your mobility needs when booking online.
Children in strollers are welcome at the Louvre. Strollers larger than 55cm x 35cm x 20cm when folded cannot be checked during your visit. Frontal baby carriers and slings are allowed, but back carriers with metal frames are not.

The Best!
Our private tour of the Louvre was with Jason, an American graduate student working on his Ph.D. in art history from Harvard. He was amazing, totally into his subject, knowing little facts and tips that made it all the more interesting. I am so glad we were not in one of those 30-people groups following a little old lady with a red umbrella, listening on ear phone. Our vacation was not inexpensive, but I decided not to save $40-$50 a lesser tour would have cost. I am so glad I did. This was perhaps the best tour I have ever had in all my travels. I highly recommend it.

The Only Way to See the Louvre
This is the way to experience the Louvre for the first time. Our guide was wonderful and she gave us a great overview of the entire museum and its history. She didn’t try to overwhelm us but made sure that we saw the highlights (the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo) and some amazing paintings we might otherwise have missed. I chose Paris Muse because I liked how they described their approach on their website and I wasn’t disappointed.

Worth the Money!
Our Introduction to the Treasures of the Louvre with Inge was fantastic. This company is very education oriented and we appreciated Inge’s knowledge. The Louvre was VERY crowded yet we never felt rushed or pressed for time. If you only plan to visit the Louvre once in Paris use this company. They are worth the money because they are all experts in the field – not just a tour guide.
